Mindful Conversations Framework

Designed for students aged 11-18, the Mindful Conversations framework guides students to approach discussions with a sense of openness and curiosity.

Before engaging in conversations, they’ll explore the power of opinions, communication skills, and the importance of respecting boundaries.

Each conversation offers time to talk, listen, pause, and reflect, cultivating meaningful, respectful exchanges.

Flexible approach

Regular conversations

  • Different conversations happen every day at the same time i.e. Advisory.

Deeper dives

  • Conversations can focus on 1 thing and explored in greater detail over a longer time i.e. Online safety.

Responsive to needs

  • Conversations can be used as a medium to talk about real-world situations relevant in the moment i.e. War.

Turn-taking

  • Develops patience, helping students to wait for the right moment to contribute to a conversation and not simply wait for a chance to speak.

Reflecting

  • Having opportunities to pause students are able to connect with their thoughts and emotions and begin to change reactive patterns into more balanced, measured communication.

Responding not reacting

  • By being more mindful during conversations, students are more likely to be aware of their emotions and can choose to respond in a way that aligns with their values.
